Rix & Kay promotes equality diversity and inclusion

Rix & Kay, a leading law firm in Brighton & Hove, is proud to be supporting the Ladies Lunch Club Brighton in 2025.

The law firm’s involvement further supports its ongoing efforts to advance equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) initiatives – both to the regional communities it serves and within its own organisation.

As a long-time advocate for gender equality, Rix & Kay fosters a workplace where each colleague is valued as an individual, and its commitment to diversity is reflected in its workforce. Right now, almost 75% of Rix & Kay employees are women and, of the firm’s department leadership team, more than half are represented by women.

It also has a flexible and hybrid working policy that sits at the heart of its longer-term strategy. This strategy has been adopted, in part, to allow great female talent to join the firm who can’t always accommodate the traditional Monday to Friday, 9-to-5. A great example of this is Kathryn Paisley, who is a Partner and a member of Rix & Kay’s Strategic Board. Kathryn originally joined the firm as a Solicitor in 2015 working flexible hours. Previously she had worked in the City before taking a career break to raise her family.

Rix & Kay’s EDI efforts extend beyond the workplace. The firm is a vocal supporter of International Women’s Day and has been involved in empowering events such as Brighton’s International Women’s Month Conference – a confidence building event, celebrating the successes of women in business. The firm will be participating in IWD 2025 events again this year.

The firm is also committed to educating businesses on gender equality and staying ahead of legislative changes, including the new duty for employers to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace, which came into force in October 2024.

By supporting the Ladies Lunch Club, Rix & Kay continues to engage with the broader community and raise awareness of gender equality issues. Through these efforts, the firm remains at the forefront of promoting EDI both locally and regionally.
