A Year of Transformation, Growth and Impact at Plus Accounting
16th January 20262025 has been a landmark year for Plus Accounting, defined by transformation, growth and meaningful impact across the business, its people and the wider Sussex community.
From leadership transitions and company milestones to award wins and strengthened commitments to sustainability and social value, the past year has marked a significant chapter in the firm’s evolution.
Leadership Changes and Key Milestones
A period of strong growth saw Plus Accounting welcome a wave of new talent across the business, strengthening expertise and capacity as the firm continues to support businesses across Brighton and beyond.
The year also brought an important moment of reflection, with the retirement of founding partner Peter Hedgethorne after 32 years. His contribution to the firm’s culture, values and client relationships has been fundamental to its success.
In March, another major transition was announced when long-standing Managing Director Paul Feist stepped down after more than three decades at the helm. Under his leadership, Plus Accounting grew into a respected, forward-thinking firm known for its proactive, client-focused approach.
The leadership baton was passed to Luke Thomas, a long-standing member of the team and a key driver of the firm’s sector expertise and innovation. His appointment marked the beginning of an exciting new phase, reinforcing Plus Accounting’s commitment to digital transformation, strategic advice and long-term client partnerships.
Further strengthening the leadership team, Emma Hardwick and Victoria King were promoted to Service Directors in recognition of their continued contribution and impact.
Growth continued in April with the successful integration of Warren House Chartered Accountants, a respected Sussex-based firm. The move aligned shared values and a client-first ethos, expanding Plus Accounting’s expertise while ensuring continuity of service for Warren House clients and team members.
The firm also marked a physical milestone, relocating to a newly refurbished office space at Preston Park House, signalling long-term investment in a modern, collaborative working environment for both staff and clients.
Brand Growth and Sector Leadership
Throughout 2025, Plus Accounting continued to build its profile as a sector specialist and thought leader.
The launch of Plus Conversations, a series of small, monthly roundtable discussions led by senior managers, created space for practical, peer-led conversations on topics including Capital Gains Tax, cloud accounting and business expenses. These sessions have been well received, with future events already planned.
The firm’s expertise was also showcased on national and sector stages, with team members speaking at conferences, contributing to podcasts and supporting creative and gaming businesses through panel discussions and “Ask Me Anything” sessions.
Community, Charity and Social Impact
Community engagement remained central to Plus Accounting’s purpose throughout the year.
The firm supported a number of Brighton-based charities through fundraising events, tournaments and raffles, raising vital funds and strengthening local partnerships. These included football and pool tournaments, a Christmas charity raffle, and participation in client-led fundraising initiatives that collectively generated significant donations for local causes.
Beyond fundraising, Plus Accounting continued to invest in social value initiatives. Donations supported grassroots community sports, while matched funding helped local organisations exceed ambitious crowdfunding targets.
The firm also backed creative, cultural and tech-led initiatives across the region, acting as patrons, sponsors and partners to events, festivals and award programmes that champion innovation and inclusion.
Supporting the next generation remained a priority, with involvement in financial literacy and STEM initiatives in local schools, helping young people develop essential skills from an early age.
As a certified B Corp, Plus Accounting published its first Impact Report in 2025, outlining progress against sustainability and social goals, and reaffirming its commitment to balancing profit with purpose. This work was shared with the wider business community through events and panel discussions focused on sustainability and responsible growth.
Looking ahead, the firm has confirmed its support for Amaze Sussex’s Art Trail in 2026, a large-scale public art initiative supporting families with disabled children across Brighton and Hove.
