Air Italy closes down
9th March 2020Loss-making Air Italy has closed down, sparking worry amongst the airline’s customers. However, it has been revealed that passengers with future bookings will still be protected.
The airline – 51% owned by the Aga Khan through his Alisarda company and the remaining 49% held by Qatar Airways – has grounded all flights. This comes after 2019’s airline closures, including that of Thomas Cook, Wow Air and Adria Airways – all of which went into liquidation.
Air Italy’s flights were operated by other carriers as scheduled up until February 25th, and from now on, passengers will either be re-protected by being booked on other airlines or will be fully refunded.
