Brighton Dome – the south coast’s premier multi-arts venue – has been announced as winner of the Silver award for Best UK Unusual Venue at this year’s industry M&IT awards.

Brighton Dome was the only Sussex venue to achieve recognition, proudly sitting amongst standout names in industry such as Gold winners Alton Towers Resort, Bronze winners Coombe Abbey and notable finalists The Natural History Museum, Pines Calyx and The Monastry, Manchester.

With a rich history spanning over 200 years (starting life as the Prince Regent’s stables and riding house) and five flexible spaces under one iconic roof, Brighton Dome is one of the most versatile and stylish venues to hire in the South. Each year, the Grade 1 listed venue plays host to conferences, weddings, parties, award ceremonies and more alongside performances and concerts from promoters big and small.

Donna Miller, Business Development Manager for Conferences and Events, shared:

We are so proud to win this prestigious award recognising Brighton Dome as a unique venue space for any type of event. We would like to thank all of our clients for their votes and support.”

The awards were held at Battersea Evolution, London with BBC presenter Kate Silverton as Mistress of Ceremonies in front of a strong crowd of over 1200 industry professionals. The celebratory event brought together nominees from all awards across a spread of industry plus a special award with M&IT Personality of the Year going to Sundial Group founder Tim Chudley, in a nod to his campaign work for the Living Wage and industry charity Meeting Needs. The black-tie occasion witnessed the award presentations whilst raising funds which is for the meeting’s industry’s own charity, Meetings Industry Meeting Needs (MIMN).

Organised by Meetings & Incentive Travel magazine, the strength of the M&IT Awards is its democratic process. With 19 awards voted for by event professionals and with no judging panels or vested interest, the award is a strong representation of public opinion and brings together a variety of business sectors to measure market reaction in rewarding excellence of service and product. It is the event industry’s biggest and most prestigious recognition programme.
