Brighton Fringe had announced more than £10,000 worth of bursaries to help those who would like to take part in 2017’s festival. Arts of all kinds – dancers, spoken word artists, poets, young performers, those working in theatre, literature and so on – are all welcome and can all apply for funding and mentoring support when they register.

For those who aren’t familiar with the event, Brighton Fringe is an open-access arts festival, meaning anyone with a show or event can take part and share their talents with the local community. Not only does this give new performers a chance to flourish but allows established artists to take creative risks.

Last year’s Brighton Fringe event saw over 930 different shows and events come to Brighton for 30 days in May and June. The overall celebration of all things creative had grown out of – and is inspired by – home-grown talent, with approximately half of those taking part in the event based in the city.

Managing Director of Brighton Fringe, Julian Caddy commented ahead of the event: “Brighton Fringe is a universal platform for all artists of all experience, backgrounds and perspective to perform or exhibit their work. Beyond this, we are working year-round to help participants, whether through free workshops, bursaries or awards. We are also connecting Brighton Fringe up nationally and internationally through touring opportunities, which widens artists’ scope for further success as much as possible. So now if your opportunity to take part: Brighton Fringe is open to everyone, and we look forward to helping you with your event.”

Brighton Fringe 2017 will run from May 5th and June 4th 2017 and bursaries are supported by The Pebble Trust, O2 Think Big, ART: Sync, Urbanflo and Encoreinsure.com. Those wanting to take part in this year’s Brighton Fringe event have until 20th January 2017 to apply, but those who apply before December 9th will receive special discount on the registering cost.
