Hurtling down a hippo-infested river in a canoe proved to be a memorable experience for Red Nose Day celebrities, like Jack Dee, Melanie C and Dara O’Brian a few years ago so now, a Brighton based lawyer is taking the same challenge to raise money for the children’s Charity, Winston’s Wish, the leading childhood bereavement charity in the UK that offers practical support and guidance to bereaved children and their families.

Lee Hills, a Brighton lawyer who lives in Cuckfield , nr Haywards Heath and Partner in Mayo Wynne Baxter’s Litigation and Travel teams has decided to begin the challenge of rafting 100km along Africa’s Zambezi River between 10th – 17th September to raise money for this worthwhile cause.

Known locally as the ‘Great River’, the Zambezi flows for 2,700kms through six countries on its path from Zambia to the Indian Ocean. This unique and demanding challenge will start at Victoria Falls and take in unforgiving rapids such as ‘Stairway to Heaven’ and Oblivion’! Lee will expect a rough ride, with sweltering heat, humidity, blistered hands and harsh conditions providing some of the obstacles along the way. He will paddle and carry the raft for 100kms of the river, sleeping under canvass on the bank at night. The river’s upper section is dotted with islands and braided with narrow fast flowing channels. Lee will paddle and raft his way along the course of the river through Zambia, steadily heading towards the journeys end at Chabango Falls and the final rapid ‘Ghostrider’!.

So far, in just two weeks, Lee has raised an incredible £2500 towards the overall target of £4000 and really needs your help not only to hit this target but to smash it before the 24th of June. Lee said, “This is a challenging and physically demanding adventure but one which will make a difference to the lives of dozens of children who need our support. In a small way I am hoping to make a difference and I hope that others will want to share in this challenge and do so as well’’
