Cathay Pacific Launches Only Non-Stop Flight to Hong Kong from Gatwick

“NEW SERVICE TO OFFER MORE CHOICE AND FLEXIBILITY FOR TRAVELLERS”

Cathay Pacific Airways watched as its first flight from Gatwick Airport to its home city of Hong Kong departed on Friday 2nd September. As the only direct service connecting Gatwick and Hong Kong, it is Cathay Pacific’s first long-haul route in the UK to be operated by the new Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

Designed to serve both leisure and business travelers, the new four-times-weekly service will operate from Gatwick’s South Terminal. Cathay Pacific’s A350 – an environmentally-friendly aircraft which features the airline’s latest in-flight products, provides connectivity in all cabin classes. Passengers are able to use their mobile phones to browse the internet, send and receive emails and stay connected on social media for a small fee.

Cathay Pacific’s General Manager Europe, Neil Glenn commented: “We are committed to providing out passengers with greater choice and flexibility, and this new non-stop service from Gatwick to Hong Kong is testament to this. With 2016 marking Cathay Pacific’s 70th anniversary, we are proud to now offer passengers three non-stop routes from the UK to Hong Kong, and then beyond.”

With a real focus on offering passengers more choice and flexibility, the new service will provide those living in London, the South East and South of England a convenient way to travel to Hong Kong and beyond via the airline’s extensive hub.

Neil Glenn continued: “Meeting the increasing demand from both business and leisure travelers, we are delighted that this route will be served by our newest aircraft – the Airbus A350. Featuring Cathay Pacific’s latest inflight products across all cabins, we are confident this will enrich the experience of passengers and help us to deliver a life well travelled. The A350 also employs innovative technology and design which improves not only passenger comfort and well-being, but also the efficiency, effectiveness and operational performance of the aircraft.

Cathay Pacific is currently offering return economy flights from Gatwick to Hong Kong from £469, and to China from £499. Return economy flights to various destinations in South East Asia start from £549, and £569 to Australia. Flying to Hong Kong and onwards to over 190 global destinations, Cathay Pacific operates five flights daily from London Heathrow, and four flights a week from Manchester and London Gatwick. The Gatwick route is the only one in the UK to feature the new A350-900 aircraft.
