Chandlers Lewes Team to Take on Banger Rally

A team from Lewes Chandlers Building Supplies is set to take part in September’s Vado Rally 2016, where they will drive across Europe for three days in old banger cars in a bid to raise money for the Rainy Day Trust.

The Rainy Day Trust provides general support and financial help to people who have worked in the UK’s home improvement industries when times are tough. For more information on the charity please visit www.rainydaytrust.org.uk.

Chandlers Lewes Branch Manager, Stuart Campbell and Trevor Mudd, Chandlers Timber Trading Director, will be taking on the challenge in an old Mercedes C250, abiding by the rules of the rally – the chosen car should not have cost more than £500 and more work and effort must be put into decorating the car and crew than making sure the engine is fully functioning; strange rules, but making the experience all the more fun. Stuart and Trevor have stuck by the rules and purchased their car for a price of £147!

Due to start on Thursday 15^th September, Stuart and Trevor will follow their route through eight European countries before arriving in Monte Carlo three days after setting off, also facing a number of challenges during their journey.
