Cobb Lunch Club
26th April 2019Last month Sussex Business Times joined Cobb Lunch Club at the i360 for its monthly networking event. The lunch club was formed in 2007, and 12 years later it continues to enjoy a fantastic reputation for excellent networking along with a strong social conscience.
Bringing together directors and partners of Sussex businesses with a turnover of £1 million plus, or who employ at least 10 staff, the club is a great chance to meet senior business people at the top of their games. As well as a delicious lunch and a chance to network, there is also always an interesting speaker. Last month we heard from Piers Bishop, co-founder of WeThrive. In January 2018, 32.5% of the UK’s workforce were considering moving on professionally – Piers asked guests to think about how their business would fair in 2019? Piers gave practical tips on how to ensure your business can retain more employees in 2019 and beyond and why you need to think about it now.
Piers Bishop, MA, MABP is founder of employee engagement platform WeThrive where he created the 4Cs Model for intelligent performance, making it easy to understand the causes of stress and anxiety in the workplace and the negative effect they have on motivation, engagement and performance.
As well as hearing from Piers, we also heard from Christine Squince, CEO of local charity Emmaus, which supports people who have experienced homelessness by providing them with a home and meaningful work.
