The Chamber Network will be actively taking part in COP28 events and initiatives from 30 November to 12 December, writes Ana Christie, of Sussex Chamber of Commerce. And there’s even an invitation for chamber members to get involved.

We have a unique opportunity to come together to take advantage of COP28, a globally important event which is already generating enormous interest across the world.

COP28 will showcase the Chamber Network as the leading business organisation on COP28 business engagement by uniting chambers, countries, companies, multinationals, SMEs, start-ups, experts, young professionals, public and private sector for a greener future. Learn about the inspiring green initiatives that are happening across our Chamber Network.

Across the British Chamber Network, we understand that green innovation is about change now, for a better tomorrow.

The transition to Net Zero presents businesses with opportunities to grow, by meeting government requirements and by satisfying fast-growing global demand for environmental products and services.

Chambers play an important role in supporting businesses on their journey to net zero, helping SMEs to understand what it means for them and how to comply as well as highlighting best practice.

As we countdown to COP28, we will:

• use the momentum from COP28 to showcase the national Chamber Network and members involved in fantastic initiatives,

• support and inspire businesses in understanding how to reach Net Zero.

As we continue our countdown to COP28, we are pleased to share information about the Climate Action Innovation Zone 2023 for Chamber Members travelling to the United Arab Emirates.

The British Chambers of Commerce is delighted to be a partner of the Climate Action Innovation Zone – an inclusive, free to attend platform for cross-sector collaboration at COP28.

Taking place from Monday 4 to Friday 8 December at the Madinat Jumeirah Conference Centre, it will bring together thousands of leaders and practitioners from business, finance, cities, governments and civil society to drive climate action at speed and scale. We hope you will join the British Chambers in the Innovation Zone to help supercharge our collective climate action.

This year’s Innovation Zone includes:

• The Climate Action Arena, featuring the Breakthrough Innovation Exhibition and Pavilion, the Climate Action Stage, the Climate Challenge Lab and the Conduit Lounge for VIP guests.

• The Climate Knowledge Hub, hosting Climate Action’s Flagship Forums including the Sustainable Innovation Forum on 4 and 5 December, Sustainable Finance Forum on 6 December, Hydrogen Transition Summit on 7 December and Agri-Food Systems Summit on 8 December.

• The Island of Hope, running a daily programme focusing on accelerating climate adaptation, resilience and ecosystem restoration in Small Island and vulnerable states and a lively evening programme of climate cocktails, drinks receptions and dinners.

• The UK Climate Action Forum, taking place on 6 December, a collaborative Forum bringing together UK businesses, ministries, cities, regions, academia and NGOs, plus international representatives interested in learning about the UK’s pioneering climate solutions and services. Its aim is to facilitate collaboration and harness the power and ingenuity of the UK climate community to accelerate local, regional and global climate action. The British Chambers Director General will be speaking at this event.
