Dasaki delivers on auction prize

In November 2019 at the Best of British Gatwick there was a very special auction prize donated by the team at Dasaki, to cook for 8 guests at the fabulous Blanch House Boutique hotel in Kemp Town, accompanied with wine tasting.

The prize raised an amazing £4,200 for the amazing Rockinghorse Children’s charity, but due to Covid, the team was unable to host the guests until this year. The auction prize was won by Steve Pearce, former MD of Southover Food Company Ltd, Now Co-owner of Westmeston Holiday Cottages, and Brent Kearney, Group Director at Woodhams. They were accompanied by 6 other guests on Saturday 13th November 2021. 

The guests were welcomed at Blanch House in the private dining room, where the Dasaki team of Sam Thomas, Uncle George and Kris Thomas (Sam’s Mum) explained a little about the history of Dasaki and where their traditional recipes originate. They were then left in the capable hands of award winning wine expert Michael Yeoman, Brighton & Hove Wine Club and Spirit of the Downs to talk them through a variety of different wines. 

The guests enjoyed a Greek Cypriot feast starting with a mezedes of Tzatziki, Grilled Halloumi, Keftedes (meatballs), Lounza, Olives and Pitta Bread. This was followed by Pasta Bastourma (Pasta with Greek Cypriot Sausage) before the main event, the famous family Kleftico (slow cooked lamb shank). If this was not enough, the diners left a little room for dessert of Galatboureko (creamy custard filled phyllo pastry, drenched in spiced syrup).
