US pizza brand, MOD Pizza, celebrated their grand opening in Brighton Marina on Thursday 11th August to a crowd of future MOD Pizza fans. As a part of their community initiative, they have chosen to support Rockinghorse charity for their grand opening day.

MOD Pizza was brought to Brighton Marina – their second location in the UK – bringing their super-fast, made to order pizza offering to the Brighton food market, something that is completely new and unique to the city. Following on from the grand opening, MOD Pizza presented a cheque to local children’s charity, Rockinghorse for an applausable £1,653.

Before the opening event, MOD Pizza pledged to donate 100% of all food sales from the day to Rockinghorse in order to help make life better for unwell children in Sussex. As the official fundraiding arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton, Rockinghorse attempts to raise money for items necessary to every child’s treatment, from toys and furnishings for the ward, to diagnostic machines and often life-saving equipment.

Head of Fundraising at Rockinghorse, Analiese Doctrove, who joined MOD staff in Brighton Marina for the official cheque presentation said: “We were delighted to partner with MOD Pizza in Brighton Marina for their grand opening event as a part of their community outreach programme. They have raised a fantastic amount of money to support sick children right here in Sussex and we are so grateful for their support – they are a brilliant team to work with.”

Jemma Morgan, Head of UK Marketing at MOD Pizza also commented: “We’re thrilled to have teamed up with Rockinghorse for our Grand Opening Day charity partner. Rockinghorse is a fantastic charity and do some exceptional work for local children and the Brighton community and I’m really proud that MOD could help support and fundraise for such a great cause.
