In this new feature the Yellow Fish team offer some insights, tips and advice to help you think outside the tank.

Five easy digital win’s to keep your people motivated and inspired while working remotely.

Maintaining a sense of unity while driving productivity is no easy task when working from home. As organisations adapt to managing large teams remotely, we look at how you can maintain your organisational values and processes in the most immediate and cost effective ways during these unprecedented times.

With over a decade of experience working with companies on employee engagement and recognition we know consistency is key. Keeping your people informed and inspired with engaging and personal communication during a period of change is key to maintaining a strong team with a shared goal.

Tank Tip 1 – Leadership content is king (or queen)

Working from home can create real distance or divide between management and their teams at a time when team spirit is key. Maximise internal comms and intranet platforms to reach your people with quality and consistent messaging.

Address the disconnect with personal video content from the CEO or management team. Weekly updates, motivational themes, shout outs and recognition to those going above and beyond can all help to boost morale and maintain the feeling of togetherness.

Working from home doesn’t mean the quality of your communications should suffer. Ensuring a slick delivery will go along way to reassure and convey control.

Provide presenter packs.

Send managers a simple presenter pack consisting of a ‘best practise’ guide from how to set up a branded digital backdrop to using devises effectively when recording content.

Recognition, from the top.

A simple thankyou from the top can hugely boost morale. Senior management shout out videos shared via internal comms is a great way to thank those who have gone above and beyond.

Share the love across the business.

Share company and departmental roundup’s updating the wider estate. A great way to maintain a sense of community and ensure everyone remains informed while working towards a shared goal.

A seat at the virtual table.

Open dialogue between management and employees  encouraging virtual idea sharing. Tools such as Slido are an easy way to facilitate and moderate the conversation to ensure your people feel part of the future.

Beyond lockdown.

Maintain the focus on communication with monthly podcasts, focus groups and round table style meetings with the CEO/senior management and employees. Creating conversation via podcasts led by management breaks down divides and adds to a sense of community.
