ACUMEN BUSINESS LAW and Kreston Reeves teamed up with Sussex Business Times to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding Sussex-based businesses.

Over the years, Sussex has witnessed the rise of numerous enterprises that have not only displayed consistent growth but have also demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the local business community. ACUMEN BUSINESS LAW and Kreston Reeves, two industry-leading firms, renowned for their expertise in legal and financial matters respectively, teamed up with Sussex Business Times to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding Sussex-based businesses.

The recognition event took place on Tuesday 17th October 2023 at the exquisite Cottesmore Hotel Golf and Country Club. The Sussex Top50 provided business leaders, innovators and community builders an opportunity to engage with the other recognised businesses, to foster connections and drive business growth. It was a wonderful morning of networking, whilst celebrating a number of inspiring success stories.

During the breakfast event, the excitement reached its peak as the organisations unveil five special recognitions for businesses that have exhibited excellence in:

1. Wellbeing awarded to Gardner & Scardifield Limited, established over 100 years ago in Lancing, West Sussex and who have since grown into a group of Builders Merchants, Electrical Wholesalers and DIY Suppliers throughout Sussex. Supplying materials to both trade and retail, the company builds long term customer relationships which has led to steady growth over the decades, allowing them to invest in staff, to open new branches, and offer more services and products.

2. Sustainability awarded to Challenge Packaging Limited who are the largest independently owned manufacturer of Corrugated solutions in the South East. Born in 1987, the company has grown to a £20m business, employing 120 people in the heart of Sussex. Based at Golden Cross in East Sussex  their 6 acre site is home to excellent committed, loyal and highly trained staff that are instrumental to ongoing success.  With broad knowledge across multiple industries, Challenge Packaging Limited have heavily invested in state of the art machinery and design facilities to accommodate and service most sectors. This has allowed the company to manage and grow in recent events of Covid with increased ecommerce and medical requirements to FMCG, Electronics, Food and drink as well as Governing bodies and Pharmaceutical industries.

3. Continued Excellence awarded to Global 4 who provide vital technology solutions and prioritise delivering tailored solutions specifically for their clients. With extensive expertise gained over 25 years of growth and solution delivery, Global 4 ensures a comprehensive understanding of business challenges and provides effective solutions.

4. Innovation awarded to Forza Doors Limited who are specialists in the preparation of wood veneers and timber utilised in the production of doors, frames, panels and associated joinery for use in the commercial interior construction market, encompassing office, education, health, hotel and retail.

5. Rising Star awarded to MPI (Holdings) Limited who provide customers around the world with an effective supply of seafood, natural rubber and sole crepe, without interruption. This company delivers a unique and highly professional procurement and processing service, drawing on over 50 years’ experience in managing the challenges that arise in global trading. Customer service is paramount to MPI and they strive to give the very best service throughout all departments.
