Background to Digby Fine English

Founded following the 2009 harvest, Digby Fine English has established itself as one of England’s leading sparkling wine houses. Rather than relying on a single estate, Digby sources fruit from carefully selected vineyards across Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and Dorset, allowing its winemaking team to create complex blends that express the best of English terroir. The company has built a reputation for producing elegant, traditionally made sparkling wines that combine freshness, finesse and ageing potential.

Leander Pink NV Brut was first released in 2015 as a collaboration with the renowned rowing institution Leander Club. The wine celebrates the club’s iconic cerise colours, and a portion of sales is donated to support the development of future rowing talent.

Tasting Notes for the Wine

Digby Fine English Leander Pink NV Brut presents a delicate salmon-pink hue with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose offers ripe strawberries, raspberries and peach, together with subtle notes of cream, brioche and freshly baked pastry from extended lees ageing in the cellar.

On the palate, there is juicy red berry fruit with crisp citrus freshness, it has a creamy texture and elegant acidity. The mousse is refined and persistent, creating a luxurious mouthfeel. A lingering finish of citrus zest, red fruits and delicate spice leaves a lasting impression. Overall, this is a beautifully balanced sparkling rosé that delivers both immediate charm and underlying complexity.

Suggested Food Pairing

The wine’s bright acidity  and red-fruit character  make it very versatile. It works wonderfully as an aperitif but truly shines alongside seafood dishes such as prawn cocktail, lobster, langoustines and smoked salmon. Its creamy texture also complements soft cheeses.

For more substantial dishes, Leander Pink pairs beautifully with charcuterie, roast chicken and summer salads featuring berries or goat’s cheese. The wine’s combination of freshness and richness allows it to bridge both delicate and savoury flavours with ease.

Awards for the wine

Leander Pink NV Brut has been awarded Gold and Best in Class honours at the Championships of Sparkling Wine, while also earning recognition at the International Wine Challenge.

The wine has achieved impressive scores from leading critics, including 92 points from Decanter, 92 points from Wine & Spirits and 91 points from Wine Enthusiast.
