Hospitality hotspot – The Inn on the Square
14th February 2025Review by Jackie Ashwood.
I recently took my family for lunch at The Inn on the Square, and it was an exceptional experience. The kitchen has recently been taken over by the award-winning Nostos, and their influence is evident in every dish, offering a traditional Sunday roast but also a selection of their Greek specials.
We started with the famous feta nests. If you have never had one, you are missing out. They are a delightful starter, perfectly crispy with a gooey feta middle. The delicate crunch of the pastry combined with the creamy feta created an unforgettable start to our meal. For our main courses, we chose the lamb shank and beef, accompanied by incredibly cheesy cauliflower cheese. The lamb was outstanding — so tender it effortlessly fell off the bone, with a rich, hearty flavour that was complemented by a deliciously rich gravy. The beef was equally delicious, cooked to perfection, juicy and full of flavour. The cauliflower cheese was super cheesy, with a creamy texture and golden crust that complemented the mains beautifully.
The staff were fantastic, providing friendly, attentive and knowledgeable service. They were quick to offer recommendations and ensured our needs were met throughout the meal, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Additionally, The Inn on the Square offers a private function room suitable for both private and corporate events, all catered by Nostos. This ensures that any gathering, up to 40, is accompanied by the same high-quality food and impeccable service.
If you’re in the area, I highly recommend giving The Inn on the Square a try. With its delicious food, excellent service and great event space, it’s a dining experience not to be missed. Whether you’re looking for a family meal, a romantic dinner or a venue for your next event, The Inn on the Square delivers on all fronts.
