Regional law firm, Coffin Mew, has been named a winner in two categories of the prestigious Lex 100, the student guide to the UK’s best law firms to work for.

Coffin Mew attained Lex 100 winner medals in the Confidence of Being Kept On and Work/Life Balance categories, following a survey of Graduate Recruitment Managers across more than 150 of the country’s largest law firms. This achievement coincides with the firm welcoming a spate of new trainee recruits.

Coffin Mew has proudly welcomed nine outstanding trainees to work across its Brighton, Portsmouth and Southampton practices. With each trainee focussing on a specific sector of legal practice, Coffin Mew is committed to developing the next generation of bright legal minds.

Pascale Devlin, who joins the Family team at the firm’s Portsmouth offices has already experienced what marks Coffin Mew out as a leading company in the region. She comments: “Coffin Mew stood out to me as a progressive and modern law firm with a clear vision for the future. Since starting my training contract I’ve been given a lot of responsibility and been fully involved with the running of cases. Compared to many of my law school peers, what I’ve experienced so far during my training contract stands out immeasurably.”

Second year trainee James Kitching adds: “Since joining, I have been involved with extremely high quality work, better than I ever expected, and I have been treated as a genuine fee earner asked to get involved at all levels. This means not only the actual legal work but also business development, marketing and recruitment. I have always been made to feel an important part of the firm and valuable to its growth going forward.”

Being recognised by the Lex 100 highlights Coffin Mew’s commitment to developing young legal talent.

Managing Partner, Miles Brown, is delighted by the firm’s achievement: “At Coffin Mew, we value our employees and their personal and professional development highly. To be commended by the Lex 100 is an honour as we strive to create the best working environment for our employees. Today’s trainees are the top lawyers of the future, and we are proud to be nurturing their talent.”
