“Thank You to the Amazing Businesses Rallying Behind the Starr Trust”
28th May 2026This month, we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of some truly remarkable businesses and individuals across Sussex.
A very special thank you goes to Acumen Business Law, whose outstanding support has earned them our Business of the Month award, alongside Sussex Business Times Magazine and DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton, all of whom have gone above and beyond to help the Starr Trust continue its life-changing work with young people across our region.
Business of the Month: Acumen Business Law
Acumen Law was founded in 2007 by Penina Shepherd, who built the firm from the ground up with a clear vision: to change the way legal services are delivered.
The firm has been recognised among the Financial Times’ Top 50 Groundbreaking & Innovative Law Firms in the UK and Europe, was voted by the Observer as a “Rising Star” and won many local accolades too.
Now celebrating their 18th year, the firm has chosen to mark this milestone by giving back, and their support of the Starr Trust has been nothing short of exceptional.
Through their recent Acumen Business Convention, the team raised nearly £3,000 for the Trust through an exciting heads and tails fundraiser on the day, whilst Penina personally took the time to mentor one of the young people supported by the charity, offering guidance on how to pursue a career in law.
Penina Shepherd, Founder and CEO of Acumen Business Law, said: Penina Shepherd, Founder & CEO of Acumen Law, said: “I’m delighted to have been able to support the Starr Trust through our recent Acumen Business Convention and I hope the funds raised on the day help to continue that incredible impact. In addition, we were so pleased to be able to guide one of the young people the Starr Trust have been supporting by giving advice and guidance on how to pursue their dream of becoming a Lawyer.”
